South Korean VC Hashed invests ‘seven figure’ sum in game Decentralised Gaming Ventures 🇰🇷

Decentralised Gaming Ventures, a web3 game incubator based in Singapore, has secured a significant investment from South Korean venture capital firm Hashed. The ‘seven figure’ sum will bolster Decentralised Gaming Ventures’ efforts to empower emerging game developers in the wider Southeast Asia (SEA) region. The incubator aims to support promising young game makers by acquiring independent studios and offering them mentorship, collaborative development opportunities, and access to intellectual property.

Web3 chess game Anichess raises $1.5 Million 💰

Anichess, a Web3 chess game developed in partnership with Play Magnus Group and Chess.com’s Champions Chess Tour, has successfully concluded a seed round, raising $1.5 million. The investment comes from prominent backers including GameFi Ventures, The Operating Group, Koda Capital, Bing Ventures, 708 Capital, and Asymmetry Capital, among others. As an Animoca Brands subsidiary, Anichess aims to create a decentralised chess game that combines skill, strategy, and esports elements. With the funding secured, Anichess will continue its development, and the alpha version of the game is scheduled to launch in Q1 2024.

GameFi.org and Oasys collaborate to launch an opening gateway to Web3 gaming 🎮

GameFi.org, a leading web3 platform, has joined forces with Japanese gaming blockchain Oasys to introduce Oasys Navi, a new gateway into the world of web3 gaming. This collaboration will result in the launch of joint high-end games, projects, and events on the platform, aiming to provide users with a seamless and reliable gaming experience. The Oasys game portfolio includes popular titles like TCG Crypto Spells, MMORPG My Crypto Heroes, TCG NFT Wars, and PVP RPG 9Lives Arena.

Immutable’s highly anticipated blockchain game, Gods Unchained, has successfully launched on the renowned game distribution platform, Epic Games Store. With access to Epic Games’ massive player base of 230 million users, Gods Unchained aims to captivate both traditional PC gamers and trading card game (TCG) enthusiasts. As part of the game's roadmap, a new “Sealed” game mode is set to entice TCG players venturing into the web3 space without compromising the overall experience. Mythical Games’ free-to-play game, NFL Rivals, has achieved over a million downloads, defying the tough crypto environment and launching during the NFL off-season. Since its debut on April 26, the game has garnered early enthusiasm and even reached the top spot in the App Store. Mythical Games CEO, John Linden, shared the game’s success on Twitter, emphasising the positive reception it has received. With a rating of 4.8 out of five on the App Store based on nearly 22,000 reviews, NFL Rivals has resonated well with players. The game boasts an average of two hours of gameplay per player per day, indicating high engagement levels.

M80 Raises $3 Million to expand Web3 offerings 🚀

M80, an esports organisation, has successfully secured $3 million in seed funding in a round led by ExpertDojo, with participation from VT Technology Ventures and Practical Venture Capital. The funding will be utilised to explore Web3 offerings and strengthen M80’s presence in esports competition, content creation, and consumer products, according to an official statement. With professional teams in popular games like Valorant, Rocket League, Rainbow Six: Siege, and Street Fighter, M80 aims to expand its reach and offerings in the gaming industry. The organisation plans to explore decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs) and incorporate blockchain and emerging technologies into its future initiatives.
