PixelCraft Studios reports 200% revenue growth amid Aavegotchi success 📈

Singapore-based PixelCraft Studios, the company behind Web3 game Aavegotchi, reached $11.3 million for the financial year ended July 31, 2022. Aavegotchi, a P2E game featuring digital pets and a metaverse called Gotchiverse, is ranked as one of the top 10 games on Polygon. However, administrative and other expenses surged 609% to $10.8 million, suggesting investments in operational expansion to support the company’s growth trajectory. PixelCraft Studios recorded an 82% YoY decrease in profit, totalling $574,000 after accounting for income tax expenses. Aavegotchi has partnered with Polygon to introduce Gotchichain, a gamer-focused blockchain set to launch in the third quarter.

Code Sekai, the highly anticipated gaming platform, has announced updated details for its upcoming Genesis NFT mint event. Starting from June 24th, players can mint their Genesis NFTs with prices, ranging from 0.0069 ETH to 0.01 ETH, and a limited supply of 5,555 NFTs. Each wallet will be allowed one free mint, with two mints per wallet for waitlist and public sales. Code Sekai is an immersive Idle RPG project that combines manga, games, and other media to create a captivating storytelling experience.

Sky Mavis unveils New Axie Infinity features 🔧

Sky Mavis, the developer behind Axie Infinity, has announced a range of updates, innovations, and new features in its latest development update. The company launched Origins, a new game mode, on iOS in select LATAM and Asian countries, marking a historic milestone as Apple allowed externally-purchased NFTs to be used on the App Store for the first time. Sky Mavis’ Ethereum sidechain, Ronin, introduced its first NFT marketplace, Mavis Market. The Axie Avatar Forge went live, offering customizable avatars for users. Additionally, a boost feature called Atia’s Blessing was introduced in the Origins game mode, increasing players’ Moonshard percentage and providing incentives for competitive gameplay.

GameStop shareholders propose NFT dividends plan 💎

A group of GameStop shareholders has submitted a groundbreaking proposal to the SEC that could see the company issue dividends in the form of NFTs. If approved, this move would make GameStop the first company to issue NFTs as dividends on a one-to-one basis for each share, significantly increasing its web3 integration. The six shareholders argue that this innovative approach would raise awareness of the NFT ecosystem and serve as a marketing campaign for GameStop’s existing activities. GameStop already operates an NFT marketplace powered by Immutable, and if the proposal is accepted, it could potentially boost the marketplace's performance. However, it remains to be seen how many GameStop shareholders would be interested or capable of accessing their NFTs.

MetaRides Racing and Unstoppable Domains team up for a next-level NFT gaming experience 🏎️

MetaRides Racing, an NFT game developed by a US team, has announced a partnership with web3 domain name provider Unstoppable Domains. This collaboration will allow the MetaRides NFT owners to customise their cars, including generating licence plates using domains supported by Unstoppable Domains, such as .x, .crypto, and .nft. MetaRides Racing will launch its early access single-track version on Steam, with additional platforms, tracks, cars, and multiplayer functionality planned for the full release. In-game radio featuring web3 musicians and NFT track purchases will further enhance the gaming experience, as MetaRides Racing and Unstoppable Domains work together to push the boundaries of blockchain gaming.

Game7 funds blockchain gaming innovators with technology grants program 🎮

San Mateo-based Game7, founded in 2021 by a team of experienced gaming and blockchain professionals, has announced the first three recipients of its Technology grants program. The company’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology in the gaming industry, and the program supports open-source and interoperable technologies driving blockchain gaming adoption. Over 350 applications have been received, with more winners expected to be announced soon. Game7 has also recently launched its blockchain game launcher HyperPlay and gamified community management tool Summon.

Layer 3 blockchain Xai to launch on Arbitrum 🔺

Xai, a gaming-focused permissionless Layer 3 blockchain, is set to launch on Arbitrum later this year, hosting Ex Populus games developed by a team with a background at gaming companies such as Pixar, Ubisoft, and Activision Blizzard. The Xai Foundation will lead the development of Xai with support from Arbitrum developer Offchain Labs and Ex Populus. Ex Populus will migrate its gaming franchises to the Layer 3 blockchain once it goes live and plans to migrate to Arbitrum before deploying its games on Xai. Upcoming game releases include high-frequency trading card and battle-oriented experience Final Form, and online multiplayer PvP game LAMOverse, both launching on Xai later this year.

Champions Ascension is an immersive gladiator-themed game set in the world of Massina. Players take on the role of a Champion, engaging in high-stakes gladiatorial combat in the Colosseum Eternal to bring glory to their chosen House. The game revolves around collecting and managing Champions, which are unique NFT characters with different abilities and traits. Each Champion belongs to a Family and Class, deriving power from different Essences. Players can equip weapons and parts to enhance their Champion's abilities. The goal is to defeat opponents in PvP battles, climb the competitive ladder and earn rewards. The game also offers PvE elements and regular playtests with the community.

To play Champions Ascension, players need to download the game's client and participate in the scheduled playtests. They collect and trade Champions NFTs, or breed new characters by combining genes of existing heroes. Champions have unique advantages based on their Family, Class, and Essence. Equipping weapons and parts enhances their combat abilities. Players engage in PvP battles against other players, aiming to defeat opponents and climb the competitive ladder. Regular playtests and community engagement is encouraged to experience the evolving world of Massina and its gladiatorial adventures.
